What inspired TheJungleBrunch89?

• TJB89 was a title and brand I came up in 2024 for a senior project in Stetson University, and it was my goal to create a fictional 80s restaurant based on my old illustrations.
• It’s influenced by listening to future funk music, vaporwave music, and synth wave music, and the aesthetics and pop culture of the 1980s in America and Japan. Other influences include: Michael Jackson, McDonalds, Mac Tonight, Ratboy Genius, Sonic the Hedgehog (& DX Adventure) and Rockafire Explosion!

• I’m passionate about bringing the bold, colorful, and unapologetic spirit of the 1980s into modern life. My products celebrate creativity, individuality, and the joy of self-expression.

• How did you come up with the McHippo character?
  Did you know he was originally meant to be a pig before he was changed to a hippo? McHippo’s original illustration (and his friends) were created in the summer of 2019 when I first began listening to future funk and vaporwave music in early 2018. I was inspired by the entire aesthetic of American and Japanese 1980s McDonalds and Mac Tonight, and he is what originally started my series, “The Animalistic Performers”. He’s born from my love of vintage animatronics and 80s pop culture and the desire to create something uniquely fun and nostalgic!
