this is the very first animatronic I have ever made, and was featured at House of Echoes Exhibition showcase at Stetson University. One day when I was starting my senior project, I thought of a weird idea: “what if I made an animatronic out of McHippo?”

it took the entire fall semester (and spring semester), looking at forums, guides, and YouTube tutorials to get him to move, and I can proudly say that he turned out great. I’d plan to take him out more places, but there’s only one problem. 
he’s absolutely huge and super heavy! About 6 feet tall. But he’s live and that’s all that matters.

Head, shoes and hands: paint, 3D printed filament and custom-made design on blender software 

body: plaster, paint, wires, tape 

Hat & clothes are real! I just spray-painted them for more saturation.

stand: wood & nails 

animatronic: wires, cables, arduino, servos, pvc pipes
